Money, Money, Money …Thank you Abba
It’s not a very happy Monday really as it’s cold and grey outside but here I am, bringing a little ray of sunshine to your life by reminding you all about the statutory rate increases from next month. I know, I know.. I’m the gift that keeps on giving!
So without further ado
Here is your reminder about how much more the various different statutory rates are going to cost with effect from April.
The rate for statutory maternity, paternity, adoption, shared parental and parental bereavement pay will increase to £172.48 per week (previously £156.66).
The rate for statutory sick pay will increase to £109.40 per week (previously £99.35).
And if you need a reminder
National Minimum Wage rates are going up too:
- 23+ – £10.42 (previously £9.50)
- 21-22 – £10.18 (previously £9.18)
- 18-20 – £7.49 (previously £6.83)
- 16-17 – £5.28 (previously £4.81)
- apprentices – £5.28 (previously £4.81)
So really, the answer is not to recruit people who are going to
a) want to take time off for their offspring;
b) ever get sick; or
c) want to be paid.
Easy when you know how isn’t it!
In all seriousness though, if you’re struggling with anything employee-related in your business, just give me a shout for a chat (or a rant!) and together we’ll come up with a plan.
